Andrea Balbo (born 1970) is Full Professor of Latin Language and Literature at the University of Turin and teaches Latin Language and Literature as well as Latin Philosophy and the European Intellectual Lexicon at the Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. His research focuses on Roman oratory and imperial declamation, Cicero, Seneca, historians, and Late Antique authors, as well as on the reception of Greek and Latin literature, Neo-Latin studies, classical philology, and the teaching of classical languages, with particular attention to digital humanities and multimedia applications. He is a member of the Fondazione Valla, CIFIS Piemonte, and the doctoral boards of the University of Turin and the national PhD in Learning Sciences and Digital Technologies at the University of Modena–Reggio Emilia. Together with Olimpia Imperio, he co-chairs the Latin and Greek subcommittee for the revision of the national guidelines for secondary education. He is the author of various monographs and more than 150 articles and papers. He directs, with C. O. Tommasi, the SERICA project funded by FISR 2019 and participates in several international and national projects, including DigilibLT and FRRO. He is Vice President of the SIAC and Scientific Director of the Senecana website. He is currently preparing three critical editions and directs the Roma Sinica series for De Gruyter.
